How I Work

Central to my practice is a supportive and trusting relationship in which you can feel valued, respected, and worthy.  In this environment, we can safely explore the issues that have brought you to therapy and find new ways of understanding which support the life you want to live. It takes courage to start this process and I am glad that you are considering starting this journey with me.

Unique to my approach is the inclusion of art therapy and animal-assisted therapy.  Art therapy involves the creation of art in order to increase awareness of the concerns we are working on. You don't need any artistic experience; a willingness to try new ways of working and problem-solving is sufficient. Art therapy research has shown to promote personal development, increase coping skills, and enhance cognitive function.

I also work with a fully certified therapy dog named, Zorro. Zorro’s responsibilities are to provide social, emotional, physical comfort to you.  He has met the standards set by Therapy Dogs International (TDI) and is certified to actively participate within respective organizations including schools, nursing homes, hospice, libraries, etc. Clients have reported that they find Zorro to be a constant source of humor, support, and comfort.
